ACTV Loses Disney Patent Suit
By MCN Staff
published In a big setback for ACTV Inc.'s hopes to license its interactive-TV patents,
the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York granted a summary
judgment in favor of The Walt Disney Co., which ACTV had sued for patent
infringement.
The court also dismissed the case.
ACTV alleged in the suit that the ESPN and ABC 'Enhanced TV' feature -- which
ran during ESPN's Sunday Night Football and ABC's Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire and Monday Night Football -- infringed three of its
patents.
ACTV said in a prepared statement that it 'disagrees strongly with the
court's decision and it is currently evaluating its options, including an
appeal.'
