Verizon, keeping the PR fires burning on the third day of a union strike by 45,000 workers, on Tuesday released photos allegedly showing sabotage to its facilities (see Verizon, Unions Back At Bargaining Table On Day Three Of Strike).
The telco claimed it identified at least 12 instances of damage in four states (in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York) on Saturday and Sunday. Verizon did not explicitly accuse union members of perpetrating the acts; the company’s chief security officer, Mike Mason, said “we will not hesitate to terminate any employee who may be involved in these acts.” (See Verizon Claims At Least 12 Acts Of Network Sabotage Committed As Unions Strike.)
The two unions sparring with Verizon — the Communications Workers Association and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers — said they do not condone illegal activities and expect their members to obey the law.

Verizon plans to place full-page ads in Wednesday editions of newspapers in the affected regions offering a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for the damage.
