Channeling Navin R. Johnson

This is one of those times when you feel like Navin R. Johnson and the new phone books arrive. Welcome to the soft launch of the new Community blog.

As part of the Multichannel News #CableInTheCommunity multiplatform campaign, this blog post marks the creation of a dedicated online space to cover the industry's public service initiatives.

This space will start cooking with gas on Monday, March 23, when the #CableInTheCommunity spotlight publishes in the print edition.

Beginning that day and throughout the week, the Community blog will feature additional online-exclusive coverage of the spotlight's six selected public service initiatives, including Q&As with the cause champions, tips on managing social responsibility programs and more on how companies can do well by doing good.

Looking forward, in addition to covering #CableInTheCommunity-themed stories on an ongoing basis, the Community blog will take a closer look at the at-a-glance news featured each week on the magazine's Community page: the surveys behind Numbers, the trends among the Twittterati, the context surrounding Say What?, the quote of the week.

The Community blog also aims to be a home to issues and topics that touch our community of readers but may not be covered in our regular departments or blogs: careers and HR, the workplace and workstyles, social media for business and pleasure, favorite apps, creative campaigns and more.

Finally, think of the Community blog as a place to add your voice to the conversation about all things cable. Because what would a Community blog be if it didn't include the input of the community it serves?

To submit a guest blog on any cable community-oriented subject, email it to mcnletters@nbmedia.com with the subject line “Community Blog Submission.” Or just let us know of stories and trends you'd like to see covered.

And check back in Monday, March 23, for the start of our bonus #CableInTheCommunity coverage.
