‘Weeds,’ ‘Secret Diary Of A Call Girl’ Impress In Debuts

Showtime officials Tuesday said the Weeds season premiere attracted more than 1.75 million households during its 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET broadcasts Monday night, making the Mary-Louise Parker vehicle the network’s most-watched season premiere since 2004.

Weeds drew 1.349 million households during the 10 p.m. ET timeslot and another 406,000 for the repeat at 11 p.m. ET, network officials said.

The series, which features Parker as a pot-dealing suburban mother of two (now on the lam), also served as a formidable lead-in for the series premiere of Secret Diary Of A Call Girl—just as it did last year for the critically acclaimed series Californication.

Call Girl was viewed in 949,000 households during its 10:30 p.m. ET airing, Showtime said, making it the network’s most-watched series premiere since the 2004 debut of The L Word.
