WE Pushes Past 70 Million Subscriber Mark

With launches on systems owned by Comcast Corp., WE TV has surpassed the 70 million household plateau, according to network officials.

“WE TV has hit its stride, nearly doubling our total viewers in second quarter this year. This growth speaks not only to our successful programming and marketing strategies, but also the hard work and dedication of everyone on our team,” said network executive vice president and general manager Kim Martin in a statement.“We've seen consecutive growth over the past four years, primarily in response to our original programming, and we have several exciting new programming initiatives on the horizon that will continue to build on the network's success.”

For 2008 to date, WE officials said the service ranks first for growth among cable networks targeting women ages 18 to 49 (52%) and 18 to 34 (61%). WE executives point to the success of original series High SchoolConfidential, Bridezillas and Platinum Weddings with younger women for the demo growth.
