WE Locates Biggest Original Debut
WE tv may have located a hit series.
The women’s targeted network recorded its best-ever new series premiere Nielsens with The Locator.
The Sept. 6 series debut drew a 0.98 household rating at 9 p.m. Saturday, making it the highest-rated premiere for an original We tv series. A second installment, immediately following at 9:30 p.m. that night, notched a 1.08 household average. Total audience reach for The Locator was 1.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
The series features Troy Dunn,“The Locator,” who has spent the past 15 years searching for and successfully locating thousands of missing people. Over the course of 10 episodes, Dunn will take viewers through heart-warming, and sometimes wrenching, tales of regret, loss, reunion and closure as he pieces together the puzzles of missing-person mysteries. Navigating around roadblocks and dead-ends, Troy and his team use interviews, photos, and video clips to begin to uncover clues that lead them in the right direction.
The Locator’s debut follows other WE tv ratings successes, notably the premiere of High School Confidential (a 0.93 household rating) and the fifth-season debut of Bridezillas (0.84)
“This is an amazing accomplishment and a result of the hard work and dedication of everyone here at WE tv, and the devoted cast of this incredibly powerful show," said Kim Martin, executive vice president and general manager for WE tv, in a statement. "WE tv has achieved unstoppable original programming success this year from High School Confidential to Bridezillas and now The Locator joins our impressive roster of hit original series.”
