Voom 21 HD Originals Live On

Cablevision Systems Corp. is scheduled to shut down its Voom HDTV satellite service Saturday night, but some of the channels from its Voom 21 HD Originals suite will survive on EchoStar Communications Corp.’s Dish Network and possibly other cable and direct-broadcast satellite platforms.

Cablevision’s Rainbow Media Holdings LLC subsidiary said Friday that it cut a distribution deal with EchoStar to launch 10 of the Voom channels May 1 and to expand to distributing all 21 channels by 2006.

Rainbow also said it named company veterans Nora Ryan and Greg Moyer co-general managers of the Voom 21 HD originals, which the company will pitch to other distributors.

The 10 channels EchoStar will add to its HD programming package Monday at no additional cost are: RUSH HD, Gallery HD, Rave HD, Ultra HD, Equator HD, Monsters HD, Animania HD, Majestic HD, HD News and Guy TV HD.
