Viacom Tabs Jenner For Top European Lobbying Post

Viacom Thursday named Philip Jenner to the new position of vice president, government relations, Europe, where the former Discovery Communications executive will advocate the company’s public policy positions and work to forge strategic relationships with European governments and trade associations.

Most recently, Jenner served as director of international public policy and government affairs for Discovery Communications. In this role, he represented Discovery's business interests in policy discussions with national government leaders as well as the European Union. He also was responsible for licensing and regulatory compliance in the U.K., and chaired Discovery's compliance committee.

“We're delighted to have Philip join our strong government relations team,” DeDe Lea, Viacom’s executive vice president of government relations, said in a statement. “His knowledge and understanding of the legislative and regulatory environments will help to ensure that Viacom is an active participant in the process.”

Prior to his stint at Discovery Communications, Jenner spent nearly 10 years at BSkyB as a senior public affairs advisor where he assisted in the development and communication of BSkyB's position on a variety of major U.K. and E.U. policy issues.
