Verizon Tips Off FiOS TV Ad With Celtics' Garnett
Verizon Communications launches a commercial spot Thursday featuring Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett -- parodying the lavish lifestyle of highly paid athletes -- in the latest installment in its “This Is FiOS, This Is Big” campaign.
The Garnett ad aims to highlight the features of FiOS TV’s digital video recorder, which can play back programs on up to six other set-tops in a subscriber’s home.
In the spot, a Verizon FiOS installer explains to the National Basketball Association power forward that he can watch a DVR recording of Rocky on TV sets throughout what is purportedly Garnett’s ridiculously opulent Boston mansion, including one atop a grand piano.
The 30-second ad, created by McCann Erickson in New York, will also play on the JumboTron tonight in the TD Banknorth Garden, where the Celtics will host the Detroit Pistons during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Verizon launched the “This Is FiOS, This Is Big” campaign in February with a spot featuring Hollywood film director Michael Bay.
