Verizon Promos Free Espanol FiOS TV Package In Five States
Verizon’s latest customer-acquisition program for FiOS TV is en Espanol: The company for a limited time is offering new video subscribers in five states one year free of a 25-channel Spanish-language programming package.
New FiOS TV subscribers in California, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts and Rhode Island can receive Verizon's 25-channel Spanish Language Package free for 12 months—ordinarily $11.99 per month—if they order by Nov. 7.
The package includes ESPN Deportes, Gol TV, CNN en Español, Discovery en Español, Discovery Familia, MTV Tr3s, Toon Disney Español, movie channel De Pelicula, La Familia Cosmovisio and Canal Sur, a news channel with programs originating in Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean.
Verizon noted that the offer cannot be combined with some other special offers.
The telco’s promotion is currently confined to those five states—excluding, most notably, New York’s sizable Hispanic population.
In the Big Apple FiOS TV is going head-to-head against Time Warner Cable and Cablevision Systems. At least one Wall Street analyst has pointed to Time Warner Cable’s potential retransmission fight with Univision as a negative development for the cabler.
Verizon spokeswoman Deidre Mulcahy said the company has no plans for now to extend the Spanish-programming package offer beyond the five states, but added, “Verizon evaluates our promotions on an ongoing basis.”
