Verizon Inks Scripps Carriage Deal

Verizon Communications Inc. has reached an affiliate deal to carry E.W. Scripps Co.’s cable networks, new HDTV services and TV stations on its new video service, Verizon FiOS TV, officials said Monday.

FiOS TV, which launched Sept. 22 in Keller, Texas, will offer the full portfolio of Scripps Networks content: Home & Garden Television, Food Network, Do It Yourself, Fine Living, Great American Country and Shop at Home.

Verizon’s agreement also covers video-on-demand programming and carriage of Scripps’ two HDTV networks, HGTV-HD and Food Network-HD, which will launch early next year.

The carriage deal, which was completed prior to the Keller launch, provides retransmission consent for E.W. Scripps’ TV stations, which are ABC affiliates.
