Verizon Expands FiOS in Wash. State

Verizon Communications announced Wednesday that it plans to build out its fiber-to-the-home network in King and Snohomish counties in Washington State this year, connecting 68,000 more homes to its FiOS network, but it didn’t provide a timeline on when it would offer FiOS TV service in those areas.

The company said it will build the FiOS network this year in the Snohomish County communities of Edmonds, Everett, Lynnwood and Mill Creek. In King County, Verizon expects to expand in the Bothell-Kenmore area, as well as in Kirkland and Redmond.

Verizon expects to install more than 3 million feet of fiber-optic cabling throughout the two-county area by year-end, passing about 125,000 homes and small businesses with fiber. The company passed 57,000 homes in the state in 2006.
