USA Network will team up with mobile and Web social-media network JuiceCaster to allow the top 10 finalists from the fifth season of the network’s Nashville Star to create their own mobisodes.
Photos and video content recorded by contestants with multimedia cellular phones provided by Cricket Mobile will be automatically posted to the Nashville Star Mobisode MediaBox in real-time.
The MediaBox -- accessible via the official Nashville Star site and on each contestant's personal MySpace profile page -- will provide an exclusive view into the everyday lives of the contestants as they compete for the chance to win a major music recording contract.
“This technology is a testament to how USA’s Web site and Nashville Star are working to stay on the cutting edge of entertainment and delivering another great Web component to the series," USA senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy Chris McCumber said in a prepared statement.
