Univision, American Red Cross Team To Help Haiti

Univision Communications Inc. is partnering with the American Red Cross to help support the fundraising efforts for Haiti in the wake of the devastating earthquake.
The Spanish-language media giant will utilize its national and local television and radio assets, as well as its online and mobile platforms to reach Hispanics interested in contributing to the relief efforts.
As part of the multiplatform effort, broadcast networks Univision and TeleFutura and cable service Galavision will run PSAs, and air ongoing coverage of the disaster.

Special programming will air this weekend, starting with Noticias Univision Presenta: Desastre en Haiti (Univision News Presents Disaster in Haiti) special airing Jan 15 at 10 p.m. ET. Primer Impacto Fin de Semana (First Impact Weekend) will also air special segments focused on Haiti.
"The people of Haiti have suffered unimaginable devastation and are in dire need of assistance," said Univision Communications president and CEO Joe Uva in a statement. "We have partnered with the American Red Cross to inform the caring and generous Hispanic community in the U.S. on how they can contribute to the disaster relief effort."
"The generous contribution of Univision is critical to the ability of the American Red Cross to provide help and hope for the people of Haiti during their time of need," added Gail McGovern, president and CEO of the American Red Cross. "We are rushing supplies and disaster management staff to Haiti in the aftermath of this earthquake, and are very grateful for the support of Univision for our humanitarian mission."
