TV One Reaches 20M Subs

TV One’s first-quarter carriage deals propelled the year-old network past the 20 million-subscriber mark.

The service -- owned by Comcast Corp. and Radio One Inc. -- launched on Cox Communications Inc. systems in Las Vegas and Norfolk/Hampton Roads and Fredericksburg, Va.; on Charter Communications Inc.’s Greenville, S.C., system; and on Comcast systems in suburban Boston and New Hampshire; Nashville, Tenn.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Savannah; Ga.; and suburban Detroit.

“We are gratified with the strong, broad-based support TV One continues to receive from the affiliate community and their subscribers," executive vice president of affiliate sales and marketing Brad Samuels said in a prepared statement.

“Our target audience is responding enthusiastically to the channel, and we're enjoying great success with our launch marketing efforts, helping our affiliates to reach our underserved audience and achieve their subscriber-growth goals,” he added.
