TV Land Renews ‘The Soul Man’

TV Land has greenlit a fourth season of its comedy sitcom The Soul Man, network officials said Monday.

The series, which stars Cedric “The Entertainer” as a soul singer turned preacher, is averaging 1.2 million viewers during its current third season. Over the last three seasons, The Soul Man averaged a 3.19 rating among African-American Women 25-54 and a 2.65 rating with African-American Adults 25-54, posting triple digit gains over channel prime average (Nielsen, L+7, 6/20/12-5/14/14, 30 Telecasts).

TV Land will produce 12 episodes for The Soul Man's fourth season, which will debut in 2015.

“We are thrilled to bring back Cedric, Niecy (Nash) and The Soul Man for another season,” said TV Land president Larry Jones. “TV Land has loved working with this cast and crew who come together each week and create one of the funniest half-hours on TV.”
