Tropic, Broadbus Are Interoperable

Tropic Networks Inc. and Broadbus Technologies Inc. successfully completed interoperability testing between the former’s “TRX-24000” dense-wave-division-multiplexing transport-platform gigabit-Ethernet interfaces and the latter’s “B-1TM” video-on-demand server.

During the testing, conducted in Broadbus’ laboratory, an end-to-end network was emulated from the master headend -- a hybrid fiber-coaxial network to the set-top at the customer premises. Testing involved initiating, playing, pausing, forwarding, rewinding and terminating VOD sessions.

“The successful interworking between the Tropic Networks TRX-24000 and the Broadbus B-1 provides operators a state-of-the-art, high-density platform for the delivery of VOD services," Broadbus senior vice president of technical operations Conrad Clemson said in a prepared statement.
