The finale of Turner Network Television’s The Closer scored a 5.1 rating, securing its spot as ad-supported cable’s top-rated original series this year, according to Nielsen Media Research data released Wednesday.
The special 70-minute finale of the series, which stars Kyra Sedgwick, attracted more than 6.3 million viewers Monday, making it the show’s most-watched episode since its premiere.
The Closer ended its first season as cable’s top series to date this year in terms of persons two and older, households and adults 25-54, according to Nielsen.
TNT just renewed The Closer for a second season of 15 episodes for next year. The series averaged a 4.5 rating in its 13-episode first season.
