Time Warner Picks Siemens Servers
Time Warner Cable will use Siemens Networks' Surpass hiQ Internet-protocol-based voice servers to support continued expansion of its Digital Phone service, the companies announced Monday.
About 11% of the operator's customers -- 1.6 million of 14.4 million total U.S. subscribers -- use the Digital Phone service. Siemens claimed that its Surpass hiQ platforms can support as many as 150,000 subscribers in a single voice feature server.
“We’re confident that Siemens will assist us in achieving our deployment goals as we deliver the value of our Digital Phone service to a growing number of customers,” Time Warner chief technology officer Mike LaJoie said in a prepared statement.
Other providers that have deployed Siemens' Surpass hiQ servers include Cablevision Systems, Shaw Communications and Mexico's Multimedios Television.
