Stearns had been executive director of product development and strategy at ABCNews.com (abcnews.go.com).
At MSNBC.com, Stearns will serve as the key liaison with NBC News, lead the effort to maximize online synergy across all NBC News properties, supervise editorial organizations on the East Coast and oversee the site's online-video operation.
