Starz Checks in 2.5 Million Viewer Guests for 'Magic City' Debut

Check in for Starz original series Magic City, which centers on the comings and goings at a lavish Miami hotel circa 1959, has been brisk.
Through its April 6 premiere weekend, the Mitch Glazer-created drama has been by more than 2.5 million viewers, according to officials at the premium programmer.
Buoyed by a three-episode, multiplatform sampling effort that began on March 30, Magic City delivered more than 1.55 million of those watchers and counting. That total, according to Nielsen data, included 730,000 viewers on live +3 basis for the sneak peek of the first installment on Starz, which was the 11 p.m. (ET/PT) lead-out from the season finale of Spartacus: Vengeance on March 30. There have also been 670,000 on-demand views to date.
As for its linear weekend debut, Magic City conjured 965,000 total viewers, including 423,000 on April 6, its official premiere night, at 10 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Starz ordered a second season of Magic City almost three weeks before its linear launch.
