Sportsman Channel Targets More Dish Network Subs via Extensive Freeview

Sportsman Channel will gain access all Dish Network customers, starting today and extending into mid-June.

A free preview will make the network's standard- and high-definition feeds on channel 395 accessible to all of Dish's 14-million video customers through June 19, according to the parties.  Sportsman Channel is currently available on the nation's No. 3 provider's America's Top 250 package and Outdoor Sports packages.

As part of the freeview, Dish subscribers will be able access to all of Sportsman's outdoor fare, including the special NRA Guns & Gold Marathon on Memorial Day, May 28 from 8-10 p.m. (ET).

"By providing access to Sportsman Channel right during the start of fishing season, Dish is showing its appreciation for American sportsmen," said Sportsman Channel CEO Gavin Harvey in a statement. "As the only network 100 percent dedicated to hunting, shooting and fishing, we appreciate Dish Network's partnership, and we are confident that their customers appreciate it too."

Noted Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming at Dish: "As sportsmen across America gear up for the summer outdoor season, Dish is pleased to offer this free preview of the Sportsman Channel. This network is a valuable part of our Outdoor Sports Package that features hunting, fishing and shooting programming."
