Spike Orders Sophomore Season Of 'Deadliest Warrior'
Deadliest Warrior will live for a second season on Spike TV.
The male-targeted service has ordered 13 more installments from Morningstar Entertainment of the series that pits historical warriors in hypothetical battles. The fresh episodes are scheduled to premiere next spring.
The rookie campaign averaged 1.8 million viewers. Moreover, the show generated 6.2 million show-related video views on Spike.com, while its online companion program, Deadliest Warrior-The Aftermath, counted 1.8 million views from April 7 through June 21
Deadliest Warrior was also a winner on downloadable platforms, ranking as the top Spike series on iTunes, Xbox, Playstation and Zune during May.
"We are thrilled with the success Deadliest Warrior has achieved both on air and online for Spike," said senior vice president of original programming Sharon Levy in a statement. "The decision to pick it up is a no-brainer. Since hitting the air, fans have endlessly debated and shared online, even offering some great ideas for future match-ups."
