Sony Puts ScreenBites Clips on Grouper.com

Sony Pictures Entertainment will provide clips from 25 of its well-known movies and TV shows through the company's Grouper.com (grouper.com) video-sharing site, Sony announced Thursday.

The new ScreenBites channel on Grouper.com initially includes 100 clips, and it will be expanded to include “hundreds more over the next few months,” Sony said. After watching a clip, visitors are shown offers to purchase the full-length film or TV show on DVD or digital download.

Sony Pictures Entertainment acquired Grouper.com in August for $65 million (www.multichannel.com/article/CA6364882.html).

At launch, ScreenBites will include clips from Sony movies such as A Few Good Men, Charlie's Angels, Jerry Maguire, Men in Black, On the Waterfront and Spider-Man. Sony TV shows that are part of the channel include Diff'rent Strokes, Fantasy Island, Good Times, Married with Children, The Jeffersons, The Three Stooges and What's Happening.

"The heart and soul of Grouper exists in our incredible user-generated videos, but our millions of users will also have fun watching 'show me the money' moments from must-have Sony Pictures movies and TV shows and sharing them with friends or posting on their MySpace, Blogger and Facebook pages,” Grouper.com president Josh Felser said in a prepared statement.
