SNY Scores Top RSN Daytime Delivery for Mets' Season Opener

The New York Mets set a record at Citi Field and SNY notched one on the small screen with the club's 2012 season opener against the Atlanta Braves.
The regional sports network home of the Mets averaged a 3.95 household rating, 292,000 households and 321,000 viewers in the New York DMA with its April 5 telecast of the Amazins' 1-0 triumph, according to Nielsen data. SNY officials said the telecast represented the highest-rated and most-watched weekday, daytime home opener for the Mets on an RSN, surpassing the 3.9 rating and 284,000 households MSG regisetered with the April 1, 2002 game between the Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates.
SNY's 3.95 household rating was 21% greater than the 3.27 mark for the 2011 Mets-Florida Marlins season opener on April 1, 2011 at 7 p.m. and stood 138% above the 1.66 average for the 2011 Mets home opener against the Washington National on April 8, 2011.
Thursday's Mets-Braves telecast peaked with a 4.61 rating and 341,000 New York area households.
In the stands, 42,080 packed Citi Field, the largest crowd ever at the ballpark, which opened in 2009. The Mets honored their late Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter with a pre-game ceremony. The Kid died of a brain cancer in February.
