Smithsonian, Time Warner Cable Ink Carriage Accord

Moreover, various pieces of content from Smithsonian will be made available to Time Warner Cable customers, including those with Road Runner High-Speed Internet service and its HD on demand package.
Subscribers of the No. 2 cable operator will also be able to access Smithsonian content via TWC's enhanced services, Start Over and Look Back.
A joint venture between Smithsonian Institute and Showtime Networks Inc., the service also counts DirecTV, Verizon FiOS, Charter Communications, AT&T U-Verse and RCN Corp. as affiliates.
"We're thrilled to be a part of the Time Warner Cable family," said Smithsonian Networks general manager Tom Hayden in a statement. "This gives us the opportunity to bring the award winning, original, family-friendly, HD programming that Smithsonian Channel has been producing to a much wider audience through TWC's multiple platforms."
Noted TWC senior vice president of programming Susan Weinstein: "This is a great opportunity for Time Warner Cable to provide programming that highlights American culture and history, in high definition and On Demand."
Smithsonian Channel programming celebrates the American experience with content inspired by the assets of the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum and research complex.
