The Smithsonian Channel is using Motorola’s SE-5100 MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding (AVC) system to broadcast its high-definition programming, the companies announced.
Last week, DirecTV launched the Showtime Networks-backed Smithsonian Channel HD, along with 20 other high-definition channels.
Other programmers that are using Motorola’s platform to deliver HD content include HBO and Starz Entertainment.
