Showtime, Mediacom Add VOD to Deal
Showtime Networks Inc. and Mediacom Communications Corp. announced Tuesday that they have reached a new carriage agreement.
The deal comes on the heels of the Jan. 25 announcement that Mediacom and Home Box Office expanded their carriage agreement to include that premium channel’s subscription-VOD and HDTV services
Under terms of the SNI-Mediacom deal, carriage of Showtime, The Movie Channel, Flix, Showtime HD and The Movie Channel HD was renewed on Mediacom’s “Two-Star Pak” tier.
And Mediacom digital-cable subscribers will now have access to Showtime on Demand and The Movie Channel on Demand.
The MSO also said Showtime HD and The Movie Channel HD will be accessible in additional markets as it continues to roll out its HDTV service.
“Featuring SNI services, including on-demand, in their new aggressive packaging will help Mediacom to attract new customers to digital by increasing the value customers receive as they enter the category,” SNI executive vice president Mark Greenberg said in a prepared statement.
Mediacom executive VP of operations John Pascarelli added, "Our agreement with Showtime Networks is part of our continuing effort to provide our subscribers with exclusive cable services like on-demand, more pricing choices and a richer lineup of quality high-definition channels.”
