ShortsHD has inked a deal with the National Cable Television Cooperative that will expand its base with small cable operators around the nation.
Under the agreement, financial terms of which were not disclosed, member companies can opt into the master agreement NCTC struck with the purveyor of short films.
The NCTC pact extends Shorts HD's U.S. affiliate roster, which already includes DirecTV, AT&T U-verse, Verizon FiOS, CenturyLink, Google Fiber, Frontier and U.S. Sonet.
“Audiences across the country are waking up to the excitement of short movies, and we are excited to bring one of the world’s most unique networks to the NCTC’s esteemed membership. Our filmmakers are America’s most diverse—and ShortsHD is the home of break-through film—which fits perfectly with the NCTC members and affiliate audiences,” said Sports HD chief executive Carter Pilcher.
The Co-op contracts comes on the heels of ShortsHD’s theatrical release of "The Oscar Nominated Short Films 2015" that generated some $2.5 million at the box office, as well as across an array of cable, satellite and on-demand platforms.
The program, commemorating the 10th anniversary of Oscar short releases in theaters in the U.S. Latin Ameriica and Europe, showcased the live-action and animation film nominees, ahead of the 87th Academy Awards ceremony in February.
The company has 50 employees, and operates two networks in more than 20 countries in Europe and Africa.
