Second Season of 'Paranormal Witness' Will Materialize on Syfy in August 2012

Syfy has ordered a second season of docudrama series Paranormal Witness.

Raw TV (Locked up Abroad, Gold Rush Alaska) has begun production on the 12-episode sophomore campaign, with Syfy eyeing an August launch.

In its debut season, which premiered Sept. 7 at 10 p.m., Paranormal Witness averaged a 1.3 household rating, 990,000 viewers 18 to 49, 980,000 adults 25 to 54 and 1.7 million total watchers, according to Nielsen. Network officials said the series experienced consistent week-to-week growth throughout the season among persons18 to 34 and 18 to 49.
"Paranormal Witness is an edge-of-your-seat television experience and we're thrilled that viewers made it a standout hit for us this fall," said Mark Stern, president original content, Syfy and co-head, original content, Universal Cable Productions, in announcing the pick-up. "We look forward to working with Dimitri and Bart as we showcase another terrifying round of true-life hauntings."
Paranormal Witness brings to life the real stories of people who have lived through paranormal experiences that defy explanation. It uses a mixture of intimate first-hand testimony, actual footage and gritty realistic drama to transport viewers into a world turned upside-down by extraordinary, terrifying and sometimes life-threatening paranormal events.
