SeaChange To Stitch Civolution Watermarks Into VOD

SeaChange International will integrate Civolution's NexGuard forensic watermarking for premium video-on-demand, a partnership aimed at letting cable operators meet requirements of Hollywood studios for providing early-window VOD content.

The NexGuard application for cable VOD includes a content preprocessing capability, available either as a plug-in for transcoders or as a standalone application able to preprocess content already prepared for cable distribution. The solution is designed to be compatible with any VOD streaming server and all conditional access and digital rights management (DRM) encryption systems.

The watermark embedding itself is performed on a per-VOD transaction, when the video is streamed to the viewer. The watermark can be detected in a suspected pirated video via Civolution's Web-based automated NexGuard - Detection Service.

"Our partnership accelerates time-to-market for cable MSOs that want to launch premium VOD services with early release content from Hollywood studios,'' SeaChange general manager of back office and monetization Paul de Bot said in a statement. "By working with Civolution, a leader in forensic watermarking for Hollywood digital movie content, we offer a safe choice for our MSO customers who are increasingly requesting SeaChange to provide watermarking technology as part of its solutions offering."
