SeaChange Opens to Third-Party VOD Servers

SeaChange International announced that its Axiom Core 4.0 on-demand-management software now supports third-party servers from Cisco Systems, Concurrent Computer and Motorola.

The company also introduced the MediaServer Flash Streamer, a video-on-demand server that uses flash-memory-based storage instead of disks to serve video streams. The MediaServer Flash Streamer, to be available in the third quarter, provides 300 hours of storage and can serve 1,000 concurrent streams in a two-rack-unit-high chassis.

Axiom Core 4.0 now supports up to 10 million subscribers at a single site currently and 20 aggregate sites; SeaChange said the software will be able to support 50 aggregate sites by year end. The software is also able to refresh content faster: up to 6,800 hours per month, per site.

The company will demo both products next week at The Cable Show ’07.
