RNN Teams Up with Newspaper

Combining multiplatform resources, Regional News Network will team up with The Journal News to provide metro New York and Hudson Valley viewers with a quartet of live half-hour news segments, featuring contributions from journalists in the print, broadcast and Internet realms.

Scheduled to launch in late March, The Hudson Valley’s Newscenter Now will air weekdays between 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on RNN, which reaches some 4.5 million homes in the aforementioned areas.

In addition to providing tri-state-area news, weather, sports, traffic, business and feature stories, the show will focus on local communities, detailing happenings in the worlds of women’s fitness; science, technology and the environment; entertainment; food and dining; and high-school sports.

Reports will come from journalists working for RNN-TV, The Journal News -- the newspaper serving Westchester and Rockland Counties -- and Web site TJN/Lo.Hud.com.

“As the leading provider of news and information in the area, we are thrilled to be a part of this exciting venture,” The Journal News president and publisher Thomas Donovan said in a prepared statement.

“This represents a unique opportunity for a local television station and a newspaper company to fully partner on a new type of news show, and it will allow viewers to really get to know some of the local personalities from The Journal News and LoHud.com,” he added. “This truly innovative television program will enable us to interact with the communities we serve with platforms beyond our newspaper, LoHud.com Web site and iNTOWN magazines.”
