Sales of Internet-protocol-TV equipment are expected to grow from $371 million in 2005 to $6.8 billion in 2009, according to research firm Infonetics Research in a forecast released Wednesday.
Infonetics also expects the number of worldwide IPTV subscribers to more than double annually between 2005-09, reaching 68.9 million by 2009.
Most IPTV-service revenue is currently being generated by providers in Europe, and the number of IPTV subscribers in the Asia-Pacific region more than tripled between 2004 and 2005, Infonetics said.
