RCN, truTV Team on Digital Fingerprinting for Kids

Turner Network Sales, truTV and RCN are partnering to offer digital fingerprinting for kids, starting in Allentown, Pa., on Saturday.

The service, designed to help prevent crimes against children by offering parents and guardians practical tools that include digital fingerprints and safety tips, will be from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Da Vinci Science Center. More events will be held in Chicago, Boston, Washington, D.C., and New York City this summer.

truTV has fingerprinted thousands of children since the program's initiation in 2002. Each child receives an 8 by 10 printout with photo, fingerprints and a section for personal information such as height, weight and hair color. Information and fingerprints are strictly for the privacy of the families, and no information is kept on file.

The first 300 kids attending each event will receive a free DNA kit, safety whistle and magnet.
