RCN Launches WB HD

RCN Corp. will launch HD signals from The WB Television Network under terms of an agreement the MSO reached with Tribune Co., announced Thursday.

The retransmission-consent agreement between The WB and RCN was also renewed as part of the pact.

The WB stations that have launched in HD programs on RCN's network are WPIX-TV in New York; WBDC-TV in Washington, D.C.; WLVI-TV in Boston; and WGN-TV in Chicago, with WPHL-TV in Philadelphia to join the list later this month.

“By combining the popular WB stations and their programs with the digital, high-definition experience, RCN continues to connect its customers to something more in entertainment,” RCN executive vice president and chief technology officer Timothy Dunne said in a prepared statement.
