RCN, which has a triple-play bundle, is expanding its Pennsylvania coverage area to include Alburtis, Coopersburg, Reigelsville and Walnutport and its Massachusetts coverage area to include Milton, Dorchester, Mattapan and the Roslindale sections of the city of Boston.
"Our expansion to these communities means residents will have another choice in telecommunications and cable services," RCN vice president of regulatory affairs Thomas Steel said in a prepared statement.
"We appreciate the cooperation and flexibility shown by the local municipal and franchise authorities in making this expansion possible,” he added. “We intend to work very hard to convince residents that we deserve to be their home town service provider of choice."
RCN Boston senior VP and general manager Richard Wadman also announced that the Milton Board of Selectmen agreed to an extension of RCN's existing cable franchise last week and construction is already underway.
