Programming from The Outdoor Channel spinoff Outdoor Channel 2 HD will be featured where HDTV sets are sold following a deal with Premier Retail Networks Inc.
PRN will air 1080i (interlaced) HD footage in big-box retail outlets and TV departments across the country, including in stores owned by Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Sam's Club, Best Buy Co. Inc., Sears, Roebuck & Co., Circuit City Stores Inc. and Costco Wholesale Corp.
Content from Outdoor will include video of fishing, wildlife, rodeo, motorsports and other action-oriented outdoor activities, with an emphasis on spectacular outdoor scenery.
The HD spinoff is set to debut next July.
“Outdoor Channel 2 HD will feature cutting-edge outdoor-sports programming sure to motivate Americans to purchase HDTV sets,” Outdoor Channel CEO Andrew Dale said in a prepared statement. “We are fully committed to helping retailers move their customers to this incredible new technology.”
PRN Home Electronics Network general manager Peter Cullen added, “We are always expanding the amount of HDTV programming available at retail, and we are excited to include The Outdoor Channel as a valuable programming partner.
