Premier Retail Networks will present content from TV Guide Channel and on-demand network TV Guide SPOT under terms of a deal between the Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. unit and the Thomson SA subsidiary, announced Thursday.
PRN will bring TV Guide content to 57.3 million viewers nationwide per month in more than 3,175 stores, including Albertson's Inc., Best Buy Co. Inc., Circuit City Stores Inc., Sears, Roebuck & Co., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., SAM’s Club and Costco Wholesale Corp.
Content will include TV Guide’s daily Watch This segments, hosted by John Henson and highlighting the best of primetime television, as well as monthly segments from TV Guide SPOT spotlighting the best new movies, television premieres and hidden TV gems. The companies said the TV Guide SPOT segments will be presented in HD to promote HD sets on display in the stores.
“By collaborating with TV Guide to deliver daily TV-viewing recommendations to our retailers, PRN is helping to both entertain and inform busy shoppers,” PRN general manager, Home Electronics Network Peter Cullen said in a prepared statement.
