Playhouse Disney's 'Jungle Junction' Will Get On-Demand Debut

Preschoolers and their caregivers can get an early look at a new animated Playhouse Disney series next month.
While Jungle Junction, an import from the United Kingdom is scheduled to make its linear debut Oct. 4, digital subscribers to Cablevision, Time Warner Cable and Verizon FiOs can view the show on Sept. 28 via the distributors' respective on-demand platforms.
Jungle Junction, which tracks a group of fun-loving animals on wheels as they explore a unique jungle setting, will make its linear bow on Oct. 4 as a sneak peek at 7:48 p.m., leading out from the Disney Channel primetime special, Handy Manny's Motorcycle Adventure.
The series will assume its regular time slot on Playhouse Disney at 10 a.m. on Oct. 5. The premiere episode will be available at PlayhouseDisney.com that day immediately following the television premiere. Mobile providers Sprint TV and MobiTV will simulcast all linear airings of the series. In addition, a Jungle Junction supersite on the aforementioned Web area will feature themed games and activities.
Mini-marathons of the show are also scheduled Oct. 11 (from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., ET/PT) and Nov. 1 at the same time
Jungle Junction is designed to encourage preschoolers to think about their impact on the natural world. Storylines promote positive environmental messages with characters that have an understanding of the fragile nature of their surroundings and the need to respect it. In addition, pre-literacy skills are emphasized through the use of road signs, traffic lights, maps and icons placed throughout the jungle setting.
The show, a production of Spider Eye Animation in association with Disney Channel, was created by Trevor Ricketts (Shaun the Sheep), with Erica Darby (Monkey Dust) serving as executive producer and Morgan Francis (Father & Daughter) as director.
