Playboy Back in Black for 3Q
By MCN Staff
published Playboy Enterprises Inc. reported third-quarter net income of $1.9 million, or 6 cents per share, versus a net loss of $600,000 (3 cents) in the prior-year period.
The company said its publishing segment was largely responsible for the turnaround, posting revenue of $29.5 million, up 3.5%, including a 35% leap in advertising revenue at Playboy magazine.
Revenue at Playboy Entertainment Group was up 8.3% to $36.4 million on the back of higher international television sales -- mainly due to the launch of new networks in Britain earlier this year -- and the continued rollout of video-on-demand services in the United States.
