Online Music Show Goes High-Def

Starting Monday with a concert from Rascal Flatts, online music series Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo!Music will also air on MTV Networks’ MHD: Music High-Definition channel.

Each month, one artist performance from the Web series will be selected to air on MHD as a 30-minute concert that includes a fan question-and-answer segment. Both MHD and Yahoo! Music will cross-promote the series on their respective outlets.

Launched in January 2006, MHD features original programming for a variety of music genres, including hip hop, rock, country, pop, reggaeton, soul and original content from MTV Networks Music Group’s MTV, VH1, and CMT family of services.

“This intimate yet vibrant music series is a perfect addition to MHD’s original programming lineup,” said Tom Calderone, executive vice president and general manager of VH1 who oversees MHD, in a statement. “The series’ broad range of first-rate music stars fits in with MHD’s mission to deliver unique, hi-def musical entertainment to music fans who can enjoy what looks and sounds like a front-row experience – right in their own living rooms.”

Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music is taped twice every month in front of a live studio audience on a custom sound stage on the Fox Studio lot in Los Angeles.  Recordings of the live shows are broadcast free on Yahoo! Music at music.yahoo.com and nissanlivesets.com where on-demand videos and songs, as well as photos and blogs from the shows, are available to users.  Past performers of Nissan Live Sets on Yahoo! Music span musical genres, including Christina Aguilera, John Legend, Incubus, Beck, Velvet Revolver, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, Chris Cornell, Nas, Common, Lifehouse, Melissa Etheridge and The Stooges.
