CNBC averaged a 0.65 household rating for its first five days of Winter Olympic Games coverage, through Wednesday, according to Nielsen Media Research data, up 261% compared with its pre-Olympic programming during the first quarter.
MSNBC, meanwhile, posted a 0.27 household rating for the first five days of Olympics coverage, up 59% versus pre-Olympic programming.
NBC Universal didn’t have numbers for USA Network available at press time.
Article continues belowMSNBC’s and CNBC’s numbers were down compared with the 2002 Winter Olympics. Although not an apples-to-apples comparison, CNBC averaged a 0.9 rating for the first eight days of the Salt Lake City Games, while MSNBC averaged a 1.1 rating for the first eight days of its 2002 Games coverage.
