Nick’s Pirate Adventure Doesn’t Walk Plank

Nickelodeon's Dora's Pirate Adventure became the network’s highest-rated Dora the Explorer special to date when it aired Monday, the network said Friday.

The special averaged a 12.5 household rating and 1.5 million kids 2-5, up 42% compared with last year's like time period. As far as total viewers, Dora's Pirate Adventure averaged 3.4 million persons two-plus, a 15% gain.

The story line from the special will be the basis of the brand-new version of theatrical presentation Dora the Explorer Live!, a co-production between Nickelodeon and Clear Channel Entertainment, which begins later this month.
