Netflix Greenlights ‘She’s Gotta Have It’ Series

Netflix will revive producer/director Spike Lee’s 1986 film She’s Gotta Have It as an original series, the streaming service confirmed Thursday.

The 10-episode series will give a new look to the film’s storyline focused on twentysomething Nola Darling and her juggling of three love interests while trying to find her own voice and indentity, according to Netflix.

Lee will be involved in the development of the series. She’s Gotta Have It was Lee’s first original film, and grossed more than $7 million at the box office despite only costing $175,000 to create.

Lee in 2015 teamed with Amazon to distribute original film Chi-raq, which ran both in theaters and on Amazon's Prime streaming service.
