LocalToolbox Corp., which provides community-based Web portals for the cable industry, has reached a deal to provide its services to the National Cable Television Cooperative’s members at a special rate, officials said Wednesday.
LocalToolbox has been providing localized portals, featuring unique local content, since 1998 to cable operators covering more than 350 communities across the country.
“Several NCTC members, including Mediacom Communications [Corp.] and Bresnan Communications, are already utilizing the company’s Web-portal services,” LocalToolbox CEO James Robbins said in a prepared statement.
Via LocalToolbox, cable operators can offer an entire community, and not just their customer base, an Internet site that includes national information -- including news, weather and TV listings -- in addition to unique local content created by local groups and organizations.
