NAB Promotes Wharton to EVP

Dennis Wharton was promoted to executive vice president of media relations at the National Association of Broadcasters, NAB president David K. Rehr announced Wednesday.

Wharton, a former journalist for Variety and the Associated Press, joined the NAB in June 1996 as VP of media relations. One year later, he was promoted to senior VP. In both positions, he was the trade group’s primary spokesman.

"For more than a decade, Dennis has served broadcasters and the NAB with distinction as our organization's principal spokesman," Rehr said in a prepared statement. "This promotion is in recognition of his dedication to the NAB and the respect he garners from his public-relations peers and former colleagues in the journalism profession."

Wharton, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from Ohio State University, is a native of Hillsboro, Ohio.
