Murano Signs On At Schoen Marketing

Schoen Marketing said Mary Murano, most recently executive vice president of TV Networks Distribution at NBCUniversal, has joined the firm as head of business development.

The year-old firm said it is expanding its regional Los Angeles and West Coast practice across New York-based programmers, distributors and other media clients.

"We're honored to have attracted someone as talented and respected as Mary to help broaden our business," firm president Todd Schoen, formerly of MTV Networks and other programmers, said. "Mary's experience developing sales strategies and completing distribution agreements complements my own, and together, ensures that our marketing is as strategically focused and effective as any programmer or distributor -- large and small -- could potentially need."

At NBCUniversal, Murano led a regional sales team in developing sales strategies, completing distribution agreements and creating strong marketing partnerships on behalf of major programming brands including USA, Syfy, CNBC, MSNBC, Bravo, Oxygen, Telemundo and the Olympics on cable. Before that, she was president of distribution at Oxygen Media, working with founders Gerry Laybourne and Lisa Gersh, where she helped grow Oxygen's subscriber base to more than 74 million homes.

Murano and Schoen worked together at Rainbow Media and American Movie Classics. Schoen and West Coast staff will remain based in Hollywood, while Murano will now open a second office in New York.
