Mets Game Sets SportsNet Ratings Record

The New York Mets wound up on the wrong end of a 2-1 score, but SportsNet New York was a big winner Thursday night, recording its highest rating of the season.

The May 24 game against the Atlanta Braves drilled a 4.8 household rating in the New York DMA, attracting an average of 350,000 homes from 7:30 p.m.-10:18 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research data. The matchup of former teammates and potential Hall of Famers Tom Glavine and John Smoltz surpassed the 4.6 mark for the Mets-St. Louis Cardinals game April 4.

SNY’s Mets pregame show, featuring Matt Yallof and Lee Mazzilli, also set a new ratings record by drawing a 1.72 household rating, topping the previous high: the 1.24 household mark May 6, preceding the Mets Arizona Diamondbacks game.

Through May 24, SNY averaged a 2.8 household rating with Mets contests, up 21% from the corresponding span last season.
