Mediacom to Subscribers: Welcome Back
Who says you can’t go home again? Certainly not Mediacom Communications.
Rocco Commisso, the cable operator’s chairman and CEO, told The Gazette -- a newspaper serving Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and eastern Iowa -- Mediacom gained 50,000 telephone customers in the state, and it is winning back customers who deserted during its long retransmission-consent dispute with Sinclair Broadcast Group.
Mediacom lost about 14,000 total subscribers during the last three months of 2006 after pulling Sinclair TV stations from its systems.
Senior vice president Ed Pardini told The Gazette the operator is extending win-back offers to customers who left Mediacom during the period and using its telephone service to try to lure them back.
